What is Shore A Durometer?
The Shore A Durometer rating is a measure of the hardness of a material. It ranges with a scale between 1-100 & generally, the bumper plates are rated above 65.
Higher Rating specify:
- The Rubber is Harder & tends to bounce lesswhile, Strongly resistant to indentation.
- Also, hard rubber is more durable and stiffer-which can have a dead bounce and better supports a barbell. Hence, our Premium Competition Bumper Plate has an optimal durometer of 94.
Lower Rating Specify:
- The Rubber is soft & tends to bounce more while less resistant to indentation.
- Though this soft rubber is good at absorbing impact, again, its durability becomes a concern.
Note: if you go owith too hard rubber, it can be noisy, and worse-hard rubber can crack. Likewise, going with too soft rubber again becomes the wrong choice.
Conclusion: The Bumper Plates with a durometer ranging 85-95 is ideally the best choice for you.
